Ginseng tea recipe with jujubes

This ginseng tea recipe, which can be called Insam Cha, is one of the traditional Korean ginseng tea methods. A fascinating feature of this recipe is the use of completely fresh ginseng roots instead of dried ones, bringing the natural and earthy flavor. With simple ingredients and through a few steps, the finished ginseng tea is full of flavor and aroma, which can help warm your body from the inside.

Ingredients

  • 150gr fresh ginseng roots
  • 20gr dried jujubes
  • Honey
  • Water

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the ginseng

Wash the ginseng properly under running water to clean off all the dirt and debris. You should use a small brush to clean the ginseng roots. After that, use the kitchen paper to gently pat the ginseng dry and allow it to air dry.

Cut off the top end of the ginseng and thinly slice it. You can also chop it, but cutting it into slices will lead to a more attractive appearance.

Step 2: Prepare the jujubes

Wash the jujubes carefully to remove dirt, then dry them off completely. After cleaning, remove the seeds and cut them into 0,3 – 0,5 cm thick slices.

Step 3: Steep the tea

Add the sliced ginseng and jujubes to a glass jar, then add a generous amount of honey and close the lid. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for a day to release the ginseng extract, then place it in the fridge.

Whenever you want to drink, take some spoons of the mixture to a cup, add warm water and stir well to drink. A warm cup of ginseng tea is ideal when it is cold outside, or when you are not feeling well. Moreover, you can also add some ice cubes to enjoy if you prefer a cold ginseng tea drink.
