Introduction

Mango oolong tea is a great blending of tropical fruit and a light touch of oolong tea base. Meanwhile, tapioca pearls are currently the most favored ingredient around the world because of ít chewy texture. Their combination creates an amazing drink: mango oolong tea boba.

Can I add tapioca pearls to mango oolong tea?

Tapioca pearls, also called boba, bubbles, tapioca balls, are edible translucent spheres made from tapioca. Tapioca pearls are the most well-known ingredient in bubble tea, a signature drink of gen Z. They have a distinctively chewy texture, making the drinks become more interesting. By changing the proportion of ingredients or adding other materials, numerous types of pearls, which are different in color and texture, are created.

Generally, boba is easily added to many beverages and works well with almost any flavor. The combination of bubbles and tea is all the rage at the coffee shop. With mango oolong tea, the addition of tapioca pearls will bring an exotic feeling as having something to chew while enjoying the light touch of oolong tea and sweet-sour taste of mango. This blending is favored by young people, who are familiar with the appearance of boba in drinks.

Cooking tapioca pearls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of dried tapioca pearls
  • Dark brown sugar or honey
  • Water

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot, add water in a 5:1 ratio of water to pearls, and boil it. When the water is boiling, add dried tapioca pearls into the pot, keep the heat until they float.
  • Then, reduce the heat to medium and continue to simmer for about 30 minutes. You can alter the time depending on the sizes and types of bubbles. The longer you cook the pearls, the softer they are. Stir often to prevent the pearls from sticking to one another.
  • After 30 minutes, turn off the heat, cover the pot, and allow the pearls to rest for another 30 minutes. The tapioca pearls should have a chewy consistency and should not be mushy.
  • Take out the bubbles and give them a quick rinse in cold water to get rid of any leftover starch.
  • Sweeten the boba with some teaspoons of dark brown sugar or honey based on your taste. Let it sit for an additional 10 minutes and your pearls are ready to use. Cooked boba should only be used within one or two days.
