Iced rooibos tea with milk – rooibos latte
The Rooibos Latte, which is sometimes referred to as a ‘red espresso’ or ‘red latte’ in South Africa, has become a beloved choice among locals. This delightful beverage is crafted by steaming pure rooibos, a highly flavorful red tea, with milk, and then enhanced with a touch of liquid cane sugar, creating a lusciously smooth and creamy latte that is completely non of caffeine. Its warm, earthy, smoky, and sweet flavors blended harmoniously in a refreshing chilled latte make for the perfect drink for spring.
Ingredients:
– 2 rooibos tea bags
– 1 cup of milk
– 1 teaspoon of honey or sugar
– ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
– Some ice cubes
Instructions:
– To begin, take a small saucepan, add the milk to it, and heat it over medium heat. Allow the milk to heat up gradually until it starts emitting steam. Do not allow the milk to boil. You can use a frother to froth the milk separately. This process will enhance the thickness and creaminess of the milk, providing a delightful experience.
– Steep rooibos tea bags in hot water for 5 minutes. Afterward, remove the tea bag and discard it.
– Pour the steamed milk on top of the brewed rooibos tea. Add honey or sugar according to your taste preferences. Then, enhance with a hint of vanilla extract, if desired.
– In a tall glass, place some ice cubes and pour rooibos latte over the ice. Stir and enjoy.
